Inside the Story
In the very beginning, there was nothing but darkness — until God spoke, and light appeared. Over the next few days, God formed the sky, gathered the seas, and raised up dry land covered in trees, flowers, and every kind of plant, simply by speaking the words.
God filled the sky with the sun, moon, and stars, then filled the water with fish and the sky with birds. He made every kind of animal to walk the earth, and finally, God made man and woman in His own image, to care for everything He had made.
When God finished His work, He looked at everything He had made and saw that it was very good. On the seventh day, God rested, giving people an example of taking time to pause and enjoy the beauty of His creation.
Let there be light.
Land and plants.
Every living creature.
God saw that it was good.
