Before Samson was even born, an angel told his parents that their son would be set apart for God from birth, chosen to begin rescuing Israel from the Philistines. As a sign of that calling, Samson was never to cut his hair — and God gave him incredible strength no one could explain.
As Samson grew, his strength became legendary — he tore apart a lion with his bare hands and carried off a city's heavy gates. But Samson also made choices that put him in danger, especially when he fell in love with Delilah, who was determined to learn the secret behind his power.
When Samson finally told Delilah the truth, his enemies captured him and took away his strength along with his hair. But in his lowest moment, chained and blind, Samson prayed one more time — and God answered, giving him strength for one final, powerful act.
